Some encounters that might be helpful to those considering upgrading from Wordpress 2.1– :
- Wordpress 2.2 introduced 2 new variables in wp-config.php to support database charset. If you see strange characters on your wordpress after upgrading, google for it.
- Wordpress 2.7 comes with integrated AJAX search, integrated remote updating of plugins. It’s very easy to use; just remember that you have to provide your ftp path, e.g.

ftp.ngxtri.com:21
username: jacky
password: hzrdguess

And make sure the file plugins-update.php attribute is set to executable (I don’t know why Wordpress 2.7 doesn’t set this as default).

- Another pain in the ash is Gallery2. The Gallery2 team told me to upgrade its plugin called “ImageBlock”, otherwise the ’size’ attribute won’t work and visitors will have to use magnifier to view my wordpress pictures. So I went to Gallery2 admin page to update it, only to find out that the forking plugin is actually locked.

Besides that, everything went smoothly. So stop hesitating and do as Ford does. Ford uses Wordpress, unlike Daimler Chrysler..

So what more can you do when you are in the Money Only Environment (MOE)?
With the current Mad Accounting System (MAS), you are forced to Pay the Sum Ahead (PSA) ;
Which will leave some people Permanently Owing Some Banks (POSB) ;
And forced to live on the Loan Techniques Always (LTA) system.

Cấp 3 là thời gian chơi game nhiều nhất :(
- PlayStation: Winning Eleven - Đá banh Nhật. Từ Đá banh Nhật 3 cho đến Đá banh Nhật 7, không biết bao nhiêu trận cầu đã qua tay ngxtri :P
- Game phiêu lưu: Dẫn đầu là Indiana Jones, Monkey Island (2, 3, 4), Days of the Tentacle,… của Lucas Art. Tiếp theo là loạt game Police Quest (2, 3, 4, 5, 6), Space Quest (3, 4, 5), King’s Quest (3, 4, 5, 6), Larry (3, 5, 6, 7),… của Sierra. Game phiêu lưu hay và ấn tượng nhất là Days of the Tentacles, một game mang đậm phong cách Lucas Art: hài hước, đồ họa đơn giản nhưng nhiều màu sắc, cốt truyện liền mạch, không đòi hỏi quá nhiều tương tác

- Warcraft, Diablo của Blizzard. Gần như chiều nào cả đám học sinh cấp 3 cũng đổ xô xuống khu Nguyễn Thị Nhỏ (gần cư xá Lữ Gia) để oánh Warcraft 2. Còn Diablo thì tối nào cũng phải luyện cho hero lên 2, 3 level mới ngủ ngon được :( Thật suy đồi….

Thời gian bỏ ra: 3 x 365 x 2 = 2190 (h)

4) 19 tuổi đến 21 tuổi (3 năm Đại Học Bách Khoa)
Sierra trở lại với CounterStrike, sản xuất thêm Zeus - Poseidon, Emperor, toàn là những game hay :P Hôm nào không đi bắn CS hay chơi Starcraft thì ngứa ngáy tay chân.. Tổng cộng thời gian không ngứa ngáy bỏ ra: 3 x 365 x 0.6 = 657

Thể loại adventure tiếp tục chiếm thời gian rải rác, gồm có Squaresoft cùng với Playstation Final Fantasy VII, VIII, IX; Sierra với Escape from Monkey Island, .v.v… Thời gian bỏ ra: 3 x 365 x 0.6 = 657

Tổng thời gian: 657 + 657 = 1314

Tổng thời gian: 365 + 292 + 2190 + 657 = 3504 (h)

3504 / (8 * 260) = 1.68

Như vậy số giờ chơi game trong vòng 14 năm tương đương với gần 2 năm làm việc liên tục ngày 8 tiếng :(

Steve Jobs announced it as a product with a 5 GB hard drive that “puts 1,000 songs in your pocket”. Meaning, if you purchase each song from iTunes for 1$ , Steve Jobs will “pull 1,000$ out of your pocket”.

But that’s not the reason why I name Portable Music Player one of the worst inventions in 21st century. Let’s see why people use their portable-music-player:

1- To listen to favorite songs
2- To listen to pre-recorded tapes (conversations, news..)
3- To listen to audio books
4- To kill time
5- To reduce ambient noise

Number 1: Don’t do this. If the song is your favorite, please get it played well. Live shows are the best; next is audio-theater, at least 4.1 speakers; after that is a high-end headphone with noise-reduction. Listening your favorite songs on a 20$ low-end headset is a waste. Remember, favorite things are to be done in favorite ways, at favorite moments :D

Number 2: This is great. Some people don’t have enough time to listen to news and conversations, and PMP is a great tool for getting information. Be cautious though. Listening to a detailed article when driving is considered unsafe. However I still prefer reading the article, since reading is 5 times faster than listening.

Number 3: This is OK. You can listen to an audio book of your favorite novels. But it is still better to read a book or novel on paper, so that you can pause whenever you want, re-read some interesting dialog, or just let your imagination immerse into the plot.

Number 4: No! Don’t use your portable music player for killing time. Consider the alternatives: If you spend your free time chatting with your friend, you will be more gregarious and friendly. If you spend your free time playing games, you will be more reflexive and agile.

Number 5: You think it does, but it doesn’t. In order to reduce ambient noise, your player should have a higher level of noise, thus the situation is unchanged.

Mostly people will fall to number 4 - using Portable music player to kill time or to get some privacy. They sit in the train, listen to the songs, their eyes rolling randomly as if people around are inorganic, their minds wandering from the lyrics to some impulsive thoughts, their body remains still as if they are sleeping.. Don’t be those people.

All in all, if you have a Portable Music Player, either use it wisely, or

give it to me :P

It’s been in my wishlist since I was 7 years old. During my 2nd grade, my father took me to a church where a nun taught me piano. At first it was boring and repetitive playing with the 7 notes. But after I finished “Claire de la lune” things got a bit more interesting. I still recall how nice it was playing piano in a quiet sanctum..

About Firefox 3.0: It reminds me of Yahoo Messenger 9.0! Look at all ‘enhancements’ made from YM 8.1 to YM 9.0. None of them is big enough to make version jump. For Firefox3, the situation is even worse when 90% of my existing extension are no longer compatible!!
Opera was humble when making a move from 9.28 to 9.50. Firefox was boasting. Yahoo was lying.

I have been using Opera for more than 2 years, and have never switched back to Firefox, Maxthon, or even Internet Explorer.
Last week a friend told me “Look at this chart and tell me why you use Opera”

Opera is simple, ugly, and fast. With Opera 9.50 Kestrel, Opera is not ugly anymore. Unfortunately, it is getting faster. Damn fast.
For example, for this integrated Speed Dial functionality, Firefox developers implemented Speed Dial add-ons. I tested this addons on Firefox 2.0 and it took me 3 seconds for every load (for Opera it takes 0.2 second).

Same story with the forward/backward functionality. In Firefox a back/forward takes at least 1 second, while in Opera it takes 0.2 second without reloading the page. Page reloading can be configured in Opera. My default setting is 1 day. Normally if the page is more than 1-day old, I don’t care reloading. The world is not changing that fast, isn’t it?

The major drawback of Opera is java applet support, which turned me to Firefox many times. Don’t say Opera does not support Java applet; in most cases it’s because the applet does not support Opera :D

When the long-waited movie was released in Singapore yesterday, 03 April 2008, FAPAC (Ấp Bắc) team eagerly went to Cathay Cinepleisure Orchard to “deflower” it :8 . (Disclaimer: the word “deflower” was coined by Trần Minh and excitedly exploited by Nguyễn Quốc Sử, not me)

This review may contain spoilers. Viewer discretion is advised..

As you all know, the movie depicts the glorious Zhao Zi Long (Triệu Tử Long), with 2 fictional characters: Luo Ping An (Lỗ Bình An) and Cao Ying (tạm dịch Tào Yến :P ). If you have watched most movies of Andy Lau lately (The Warlords - Đầu Danh Trạng, Battle of the Wits - Binh Pháp Mặc Công…), it can be easily inferred that Luo Ping An is a friend-but-later-enemy of Zhao ZiLong; and Cao Ying, grand-daughter of Cao Cao, is grave-but-respectful-enemy of Zhao Zi Long.

The movie succeeded in luring many of us to the theater.
The movie failed to:
- screen glorious battles from Three Kingdoms. The number of soldiers and the size of massacres are much less than that of “Romance of the Three Kingdoms” made in 1986 by China Television Network..
- feature much-admired heroes, especially the Five Tiger General (Ngũ Hổ Tướng). Even the fight between Zhao ZiLong, Zhang Fei and Guan Yu was bad. They fought in a small room, and I did not know who wanted to kill who
- convey. The storyline tried to convey this message: “heroes have the right to bleed”, “every hero has his ending”.. For me, all I can see on the screen were Andy Lau and Sammo Hung (Hồng Kim Bảo) crying all the time. :lol:

Overall, a 4/10 for this movie. Watch it if you want some tears..

Với dàn diễn viên hùng hậu: Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet (chị này nhìn già và mập hơn hồi đóng Titanic nhiều), Jude Law (người London chính gốc, được biết nhiều với phim Alfie trong vai một chàng lãng tử đa tình), Jack Black (anh chàng lập dị trong phim Shool of Rock, Channel 101 và King Kong); The Holiday khiến người ta tin tưởng là một phim đáng xem. Ngoài ra còn có Rufus Sewell, anh chàng chuyên đóng vai phản diện và những phim thời trung cổ như Helen Of Troy, Tristan & Isolde. Trong phim này anh chàng bị mắng một trận xối xả, rất xứng đáng :D

Cốt truyện nhẹ nhàng và có thể được đoán trước, nhưng những tình tiết đan xen ngẫu hứng và lối diễn xuất dễ thương khiến người xem dễ dàng bị cuốn hút. Điều duy nhất mà phim này thiếu, theo nv, là những cảnh ngoài trời :(

Phim được soạn nhạc bởi Hans Zimmer, với dấu ấn Pirates of Caribbean.
